After living in Northern California for a decade; I was incredulous at first about the potential for great wine on the North Fork in general. Yet after visiting Peconic Bay once, that has all changed.
The staff is generous, friendly and gracious which is the polar opposite of my experiences in Napa. The property is very palatial with fantastic vineyard views from the deck of the tasting room, but, walking each row with a glass was something really special.
I took to the Riesling which was quite 'correct' as a very structured glass of wine screaming for local seafood, but, the big surprise were the Nautique wines which for every day drinking offered a great price to quality ratio.
It feels like there is so much to say and we were there when there wasn't a tasting or event. However, that patio is ready for a very good time...tons of friends surrounded by great music, wine and cheese.
Peconic Bay Winery is a small slice of heaven and a must if you are interested in great wine and great times.
